Dear Friend,
In His foundational parable of the sower and soil, Jesus said, "The sower soweth the word" (Mark 4:14). And the Word of which He spoke is God's unique, life-giving, transforming, utterly true, super-powerful, eternally unchanging Word.
Of this inspired expression of God's logos, or thoughts, Isaiah said, "It shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it" (Isaiah 55:11). It is, therefore, an accomplishing Word, a prospering Word, a Word that cannot fail to produce wherever God sends it.
The psalmist added that God's utterances are "precious" seed, or treasure seed - "He that goeth forth ... bearing precious seed" (Psalm 126:6). And, like Isaiah, he guaranteed this treasure seed, if believed and obeyed, will "doubtless" produce treasured harvests, "shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves [bundles of wheat] with him" (v. 6).
There are many kinds of seed thoughts being sown in this world today: theories, doctrines, creeds, opinions, all posing as facts worthy to be planted and grown in our minds. What kind of seed are you sowing in your mind, your family, your school, your church, your nation?
There is the seed of Platonic or Socratic philosophy - impressive but futile seed powerless to elevate a fallen race.
There is the seed of false religions, the holy writ of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Mormons, and many other non-Christian faiths - false seed powerless to take one to heaven but powerful enough to take one to hell.
There is the seed of Marx's Communist Manifesto - atheistic, ethereal seed that remains at best theoretical, at worst divisive and destructive, and which sin-bound humans will never actualize.
There is the seed of evolutionary biology - Darwin's imaginary genesis that never happened and contradicts God's "in the beginning" that did happen (Genesis 1:1).
There is the new post-modern seed of Critical Race Theory - a historically nonfactual hypothesis that twists historical facts to create a lie-riddled, revised history diabolically designed to breed resentment, division, and destruction.
There is the seed of identity politics - devised to reduce this once-great American union to base, self-centered tribalism and the slow, painful death of verbal and emotional cannibalism.
There is the seed of gender dysphoria or gender variance - that in the name of science denies the scientific facts of biological gender and is leading an entire generation of troubled adults and impressionable children into a ruinous vortex of confusion.
There is the seed of positive thinking - that hopefully envisions a worldwide peace and harmony that is hopelessly unattainable in an unredeemed society. And there are many other false seeds being sown in the name of truth.
Have you felt poorly, weak, and valueless lately? If so, ask yourself what kind of seed have you been sowing in your heart? In others? In your church? In your society? All the seeds mentioned above bring harvests of confusion, fear, deception, contention, weakness, and hopelessness. If you've been sowing them, please consider the following corrections.
Begin immediately sowing plentiful amounts of treasure seed - God's Word, correctly understood, humbly believed, and willingly obeyed - in your heart and life. Take plenty of precious time for His "precious seed." And continue this. Whatever your circumstances, keep planting it day after day through slow, meditative reading and sustained study until the effects of other troubling seeds diminish and the supernatural, creative power of the treasure seed takes hold and enriches your mind and behavior with God's priceless thoughts. A mind full of Christ's thoughts easily recognizes and rejects antichrist thoughts.
Then, as priceless faith arises, you will see the cheapness of this sin-driven, materialistic world, with all its fleeting futile distractions and false deceptive seed, and realize it offers no treasures worth living for.
Simultaneously, you will realize every day - this day! - is a treasure chest of opportunities to please Jesus. His Spirit will show you what a treasure time spent in God's presence is and how priceless prayer and worship are, to you and to God. Christ will show you every person you meet, no matter how poverty stricken with sin, selfishness, unbelief, or false seed, is a potential treasure trove, or human repository of treasure seed, for Him.
Finally, Christ will inspire you to enrich whoever you can by discussing God's precious seed and even more so by demonstrating it in daily living. Then your life will become one of Christ's treasure troves, a cache of living truth through whom He may daily enrich others with His treasure seed that never fails, misleads, confuses, deceives, or loses its value ... until, one day, the Treasure Seed incarnate returns.
Sowing treasure seed,
