As a lifelong resident of North Carolina, Greg Hinnant was called aside many years ago from his chosen field of music education, and later from the business world, to an extended period of preparation for Christian ministry. His present teaching and writing ministries are founded on years of devotional and systematic study of the Bible and Christian history, and have been strongly influenced by the teachings of some of the masters of the spiritual life, such as Oswald Chambers and A. W. Tozer.

As a writer, Greg has published seventeen books: The Second Coming of Christ: His Appearing, His Return, Our Preparation; The Day of the Lord Commentary: Interpreting Old Testament End-Times Prophecy; The Tribulation Story: A Story You Need to Read About a Time You Need to Escape; RevelationNotes: An Inspirational Commentary on the Book of Revelation; ColossianNotes: An Inspirational Commentary on Paul's Epistle to the Colossians; PhilippianNotes: An Inspirational Commentary on Paul's Epistle to the Philippians, Water from the Rock: Daily Devotions for Disciples, Sweeter than Honey: Daily Devotions for Disciples, Not by Bread Alone: Daily Devotions for Disciples, Spiritual Truths for Overcoming Adversity: Life-Changing Biblical Insights on Christian Difficulties, Gold Tried in the Fire: Tested Truths for Trying Times, Word Portraits: Five Illustrations of the Mature Christian, DanielNotes: An Inspirational Commentary on the Book of Daniel, Precious Pearls from the Proverbs, Walking in His Ways, Walking on Water, and Key New Testament Passages on Divorce and Remarriage. For more information on each of these books, see our Bookstore.

His articles have been published regularly in Christian periodicals over the years and he is a contributor to the SpiritLed Woman Bible. Greg also posts thought-provoking biblical devotionals on Facebook regularly (see Greg Hinnant).

Greg's most recent book, The Second Coming of Christ: His Appearing, His Return, Our Preparation, was released in July 2022. In the first part of this timely three-part work, Greg expounds the clear, compelling "signs of the times" (Matthew 16:3), all of which indicate Christ's coming is very near. He also presents the New Testament prophecies describing Christ's pre-Tribulation appearing to catch away His bride church, what follows on earth, and what follows in heaven. He furthermore describes Christ's climactic return to earth at Armageddon, using both New and Old Testament prophecies. In part two, Greg uses Jesus' and His apostles' numerous spiritual readiness warnings to show Christians how to prepare for the rapture. In part three, Greg uses abundant scriptural evidence to prove the rapture will occur before the Tribulation and it will be a selective event: in Jesus' own words, "they that were [are] ready" will be taken and those not ready will be left behind (Matthew 25:10-13). Part three closes with an Appendix offering a very thorough, informative, concisely written comparison of the major Christian End-Times views.

Currently, Greg is working alternately on two projects: a commentary on the Gospel of Mark, titled, Introducing Jesus: A Commentary on Mark's Gospel; and also, a ten-part course on Old Testament End-Times Prophecy.

As a speaker, Greg has for many years ministered in churches, schools, and conferences across America and abroad. He also contributes audio teachings and devotionals to Thanet Radio in England.

As a teacher, Greg has been on the faculty of Christian Life School of Theology—Global (www.clstglobal.org) since 2001, and currently teaches eight courses (ten-hour intensives): The Second Coming of Christ, Understanding and Overcoming Adversity; Biblical Discipleship; The Book of Daniel; A Biblical Study on Marriage, Divorce, and Remarriage; Pearls of Wisdom from the Proverbs; A Study of Paul's Epistle to the Philippians; and a Study of Paul's Epistle to the Colossians. For more information, see Courses Page.

In September 2023, Greg was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by CLST-Global in recognition of his biblical studies teachings and writings, and years of service to the body of Christ and CLST-Global.

In addition, Greg is also a Regent and Advisory Council member with CLST-Global. He is ordained and licensed by Evangel Fellowship International, a non-denominational association of churches and ministers headquartered in Conway, S.C., under the leadership of Chairman Phillip Miles.
